Nintendo Releases Free Hello Luigi and Hello Peach Apps

The new toddler-focused apps link simple touch play with parental screen-time controls and tie into Nintendo’s My Mario toy ecosystem.

Overview

  • Nintendo has made Hello Luigi and Hello Peach available as free downloads for Switch and mobile devices, with reported availability currently in Japan.
  • Both apps let very young children manipulate the characters’ faces with simple touch gestures such as pulling, poking, stretching, and spinning.
  • Each app includes a built-in sleep break that makes the character fall asleep to limit screen time and a setting that allows parents to turn that feature off.
  • The Hello apps work offline after download and have been updated to recognize My Mario wood-block amiibo so tapping a figure brings that character onto the screen.
  • Nintendo also announced a My Mario Melody Car toy that plays a character-specific song when a wood-block amiibo is placed in it, extending the digital experience into physical play and continuing last year’s My Mario product push.
