Overview

  • Samantha Kelly first voiced Princess Peach and Toad in 2007 with Mario Party 8 and Mario Strikers Charged and has since appeared in more than 70 Nintendo games and projects.
  • Kelly announced on June 6 that she was told the previous day of Nintendo’s decision to recast her roles just as the Switch2 console and Mario Kart World hit shelves.
  • Nintendo’s practice of omitting voice actors from game credits has prevented confirmation of the replacements for Princess Peach, Toad, and possibly other characters.
  • Takashi Nagasako, who voiced Donkey Kong for over 20 years, is also missing from Mario Kart World credits, suggesting he may have been replaced as well.
  • The recasting continues a recent trend initiated when Charles Martinet moved out of the role of Mario into an ambassador position in 2023.
