Overview

  • Price increases for the original Switch, Switch OLED, Switch Lite, select Switch 2 accessories, amiibo and the Alarmo clock take effect in the US on August 3.
  • Major retailers such as Target list new MSRPs at $339.99 for the standard Switch (+$40), $399.99 for the OLED model (+$50) and $229.99 for the Lite (+$30).
  • Nintendo attributes the changes to “market conditions,” a reference to President Trump’s recent tariffs of 20% on Vietnam, 30% on China and 15% on Japan.
  • Pricing for the Switch 2 console, its physical and digital games and Nintendo Switch Online memberships remains unchanged, though the company warns further adjustments may be necessary.
  • The US move follows Canada’s August 1 price hikes and comes as original Switch sales fell 53.5% in Q1 to 980,000 units while Switch 2 sold 5.82 million through June 30.
