Nintendo Raises Switch 2 Sales Target to 19 Million After Strong Launch

The stronger outlook reflects brisk early demand, setting up Nintendo’s first holiday quarter for Switch 2.

Overview

  • Nintendo sold 10.36 million Switch 2 consoles by September 30, with 20.62 million games sold as Mario Kart World reached 9.57 million (including bundles) and Donkey Kong Bananza hit 3.49 million.
  • Full-year guidance now targets 19 million Switch 2 units and 48 million games, with net profit raised to 350 billion yen and operating profit to 370 billion yen.
  • For April through September, Nintendo posted net profit of 198.9 billion yen on nearly 1.1 trillion yen in sales following the June hardware launch.
  • The original Switch reached 154.01 million lifetime units, roughly 10,000 behind the Nintendo DS, as this year’s forecasts were revised to 4 million in hardware and 125 million in software.
  • Nintendo said its outlook factors in current U.S. tariff rates, and reports indicate suppliers were asked to prepare capacity for up to 25 million Switch 2 units by March 2026.
