Nintendo PlayStation Prototype Controller Sells for $35,000

The rare controller, a relic of a failed partnership between Nintendo and Sony, was auctioned by Heritage Auctions.

The controller is part of the short-lived Nintendo PlayStation project from the early 1990s.
Only 200 prototype units were made, and most were destroyed after the deal fell through.
A complete Nintendo PlayStation console and controller sold for $360,000 in 2020.
This is the first time a Nintendo PlayStation controller has been sold separately at auction.
The auction house noted the controller's untestable condition and rarity in its listing.
