Nintendo Opens Registration for Second Switch Online Playtest

Subscribers aged at least 18 with Expansion Pack subscriptions can submit applications from July 18 through July 21 to join the 40,000-player test of Nintendo’s undisclosed MMO-style service.

Overview

  • Players can prepare their applications starting July 18 at 3 PM PT, with submission opening July 21 at 8 AM PT on Nintendo’s website.
  • Only gamers aged 18 or over with an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription are eligible to participate.
  • Nintendo will admit up to 40,000 participants worldwide on a first-come, first-served basis for the test running from July 28 to August 10 on both Switch and Switch 2.
  • Participants are prohibited from disclosing any content from the Playtest Program’s software or website under strict confidentiality terms.
  • The trial will revisit the same undisclosed MMO-style service first tested in October 2024, which leaks suggested features Beacons, resource gathering, and a Dev Core social hub.
