Nintendo Music Adds Mario Kart World and Desktop, Tablet and Car Support

Broadening device access makes Nintendo's game soundtracks easier for subscribers to reach.

Overview

  • Nintendo released Version 1.6.0 Tuesday, adding a desktop web player, a tablet-optimized UI, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, plus Siri and voice search.
  • The update also adds 130 tracks from the Mario Kart World soundtrack with a runtime of about 4 hours and 13 minutes and Nintendo says Free Roam tracks will be added in future updates.
  • Full listening requires signing in with a Nintendo Account that has an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription even though the web player front page is public.
  • Nintendo staff have said preparing large game soundtracks takes time, which helps explain the phased rollout of Mario Kart World music tied to its open-world Free Roam content.
  • The app launched in October 2024 and now holds music from nearly 150 Nintendo games, a growth Nintendo says could support new initiatives such as orchestral concerts or other music projects.
