Nintendo Lifts Switch 2 Forecast to 19 Million as Early Sales Surge

Stronger-than-expected demand is driving a higher full-year outlook.

Overview

  • Nintendo now expects to sell 19 million Switch 2 consoles in fiscal 2025/26, up from a prior target of 15 million.
  • The company raised guidance to ¥2.25 trillion in revenue and ¥370 billion in operating profit for the year ending March.
  • Sales reached 10.36 million Switch 2 units in the first half of the fiscal year after the June 5 launch.
  • President Shuntaro Furukawa cautioned that maintaining momentum could be difficult given the higher entry price of about €470 and macro risks such as U.S.–China trade tensions and increased U.S. tariffs.
  • Market analysts expect sales to accelerate during the gift-buying season.
