Nintendo Dates Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream for April 16 on Switch

The sequel pairs expanded identity options with strict limits on sharing.

Overview

  • Nintendo confirmed male, female and non-binary Mii options plus configurable dating preferences, enabling same-sex relationships and delivering on a prior pledge of greater inclusivity.
  • The game includes no online communication features, and system-level image transfers, social posting and Switch 2 automatic uploads are disabled; sharing of Miis and items is limited to local transfer and cannot be passed along.
  • Living the Dream is a real-time island life sim with deep Mii customization, face paint and a Palette House workshop to design pets, clothing, exteriors and more, with up to eight roommates per house.
  • Nintendo showcased a wedding scene and a baby during the Direct, but it has not clarified whether family moments create new persistent Miis or deeper mechanics.
  • The title launches on Nintendo Switch and is playable on Switch 2, with no separate Switch 2 edition or platform-specific enhancements announced.
