Nintendo Cancels Live 2024 Tokyo Event Due to Threats

Nintendo has cancelled its Live 2024 Tokyo event and postponed several other events due to persistent threats to the company, its workers, and customers.
The company has not provided details about the threats but has contacted the police.
The annual Live event, which showcases Nintendo games and allows visitors to sample them, was scheduled for January 20 and 21.
Several contests, including the Japan championship for the game Splatoon, initially scheduled for later in December, as well as next year’s Mario Kart and Splatoon contests, have also been postponed.
Cancellation of events over threats is not common in Japan, a relatively safe, low-crime nation, but recent complaints about verbal and online abuse have raised concerns.
