- Nintendo has announced a live-action adaptation of the popular video game franchise, The Legend of Zelda, following the success of Super Mario Bros. Movie which grossed $1.3 billion. The project will be directed by Wes Ball and co-financed by Sony.

Miyamoto confirmed that Nintendo is actively engaged in the film's production, reinforcing the company's ambition to embed itself further in the entertainment industry.
- Other dream castings for the project have started circulating among fans, including musician Machine Gun Kelly for the role of Link. Moreover, fans discovered a 2010 post from director Wes Ball stating his interest in directing a motion-capture project for The Legend of Zelda, essentially manifesting his present-day involvement.
