Overview

• Iron scaffolding supporting a concrete arch at the 1,320-MW Ennore SEZ/North Chennai Thermal Power Station collapsed from more than 20 feet.
• Nine migrant workers from Assam died, and one worker is being treated at Stanley Government Hospital in North Chennai.
• Kattur police registered a case under the Avadi Commissionerate, and the cause of the failure is under investigation following completion of rescue efforts.
• Senior electricity officials, including TANGEDCO chief J. Radhakrishnan, visited the site and met the injured at the hospital.
• Chief Minister M.K. Stalin noted BHEL’s role at the site and directed that the bodies be transported to Assam while accountability awaits the inquiry.
