Overview

• A first group of 22 adult dogs from Concho Valley PAWS arrived Monday night, followed by nine puppies on Wednesday, totaling 31 animals now in Chicago.
• The nine puppies were flown into Waukesha Airport in Wisconsin and then driven three hours by van to PAWS Chicago’s medical center in Little Village.
• Staff and volunteers immediately began vaccinating, microchipping, and spaying or neutering each dog ahead of adoptions expected within days.
• Austin Pets Alive! coordinated on-the-ground rescue in Texas while PAWS Chicago managed the airlift and ground transport logistics.
• PAWS Chicago’s disaster relief program, launched after Hurricane Katrina and active in recent storms, aims to free up Texas shelter space for pet reunifications.
