Nine Dead, Three Missing After Vehicle Plunges Into Bhakra Canal in Haryana

Dense fog caused the driver to lose control, sending the vehicle carrying 14 wedding attendees into the canal; rescue operations are ongoing.

A Force Motors Trax Cruiser carrying 14 passengers fell into the Bhakra canal in Haryana's Fatehabad district on Friday night due to dense fog and low visibility.
Nine people have been confirmed dead, including two minors, while three others remain missing as rescue teams continue their search efforts.
The passengers, primarily from Mehmara village, were returning home after attending a wedding in Fazilka, Punjab, when the accident occurred near Sardarewala village in Ratia.
The driver and an 11-year-old boy were rescued, with the driver reportedly jumping out of the vehicle before it plunged into the canal.
Rescue operations involve teams from the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and local divers, with over 50 personnel working to recover the missing bodies.
