Nine Charged After Merseyside Raids Target Alleged Industrial-Scale Drug Network

The NWROCU investigation alleges a Merseyside group ran labs to bulk imported Class A drugs for multimillion-pound profits.

Overview

  • Ten coordinated warrants were executed across Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and Prescot on December 4 as part of Operation Soap.
  • Nine suspects were arrested, and seven were charged with conspiracy to produce Class A drugs and to supply Class B, with two others facing related offences.
  • All defendants were remanded to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Friday, December 5.
  • Earlier warrants in 2024 uncovered about a tonne of suspected heroin adulterant in Bootle, 550kg of suspected cocaine adulterant in Huyton, and an 80kg amphetamine lab in St Helens; a cannabis factory was found in Prescot during the latest searches.
  • The probe began after a June 2023 stop in south Wales that found 90kg of amphetamine, and separate local policing this week led to three women being arrested and released under investigation after suspected cocaine and cash were seized.
