Nike’s Doernbecher Freestyle 21 Debuts at Portland Auction

Proceeds support the OHSU Foundation, with patients turning personal stories into limited releases this winter.

Overview

  • Nike unveiled six patient-designed iterations spanning the Air Jordan 17, V2K Run, Vomero Plus, Air Force 1 ’07 Low, Air Max Dn8 and Air Max Plus.
  • Two apparel pieces—a T-shirt in men’s and kids’ sizes and a cardigan—carry motifs pulled from the sneakers.
  • The collection was auctioned on Oct. 17 at the Portland Art Museum, with a global launch to follow this winter on SNKRS and at select retailers.
  • Designs feature personal details such as detachable friendship bracelets, miniature utensils, favorite foods, pets, and references to medical recovery milestones.
  • Running since 2004, the program has raised more than $40 million for the OHSU Foundation, with Nike employees volunteering about nine months on each cycle.
