Nigrán Excludes Contested Waste Bid as Council Rejects Ouster Motion

The mayor acted on the procurement committee’s report that the proposal failed minimum collection-frequency rules.

Overview

  • An extraordinary session requested by the PP ended with the governing group voting down demands from the PP and BNG to dismiss councillor Rubén Rial and restart the tender.
  • The exclusion targets the UTE Geseco–Copasa–Oresa offer, which was formally removed from the competition by mayor Juan González following the committee’s revised assessment.
  • The committee found the bid’s alternating-route model would empty containers only three to four times per week, below the six days in low season and seven in high season required by the specifications.
  • Three bidders remain in contention for the €31.6 million contract: Acciona–Ingeser (UTE), current operator Prezero, and FCC.
  • Opposition parties warn the future contract could raise household waste bills sharply, with the PP estimating fees would more than double from current levels.
