Nigeria Says Troops Repelled Drone-Assisted Raids on Northeast Bases, Killing Over 50

Troops say combined air and ground operations turned back the raids.

  • Attacks between midnight and 0300 GMT struck three positions in Borno and one in Yobe, including Mafa, Dikwa, Gajibo and Katarko, according to the army.
  • Army spokesperson Sani Uba said some soldiers were wounded in stable condition as armed drones and RPG fire torched vehicles, buildings and a barracks.
  • The military reported the militants launched from northern Cameroon and from Katarko, with fighter jets and ground forces mounting the counterassault and seizing weapons.
