The Heartland Institute, a US think tank linked to climate change denial, has launched a UK-European branch based in London.
Nigel Farage, the guest of honor at the December launch, was joined by former Prime Minister Liz Truss and Tory MP Andrew Griffith at the exclusive Brooks’s private members club.
The institute, which has ties to the Trump administration, has a history of controversial claims, including comparing climate activists to terrorists in a 2012 ad campaign.
Lois Perry, a former leader of Ukip and vocal climate science denier, will lead the UK branch, focusing on opposing net zero policies and influencing European policymakers.
Critics, including the Green Party, have condemned the institute’s expansion into the UK as an effort to import US climate denial into British politics.
