NIFT Mumbai Inaugurates New Academic Complex, Confers 341 Degrees at 2025 Convocation

Minister Pabitra Margherita used the convocation to underscore government-backed moves toward sustainability-focused technical textiles.

Overview

  • The Kharghar campus opened Academic Buildings I–III and a Multi-Purpose Hall with a 500-seat auditorium across roughly 8,352 sq. m.
  • A total of 341 undergraduate and postgraduate degrees were awarded, including 312 from NIFT Mumbai and 29 from NIFT Daman.
  • Doctoral degrees were conferred on Associate Professor Susmita Das of NIFT Mumbai and Associate Professor Amisha Mehta of NIFT Gandhinagar.
  • The minister said India is fast emerging as a global textiles and fashion leader, citing the PM MITRA Parks initiative and the National Technical Textiles Mission.
  • The ceremony featured technical textile demonstrations, student design showcases, and awards recognizing academic excellence and innovative collections.
