Nier Series to Continue as Long as Creator Yoko Taro Lives

Despite the success of Nier Automata, a sequel is not imminent as Taro and Saito work on a separate project to be revealed in 2024.

Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito, the creators of the Nier series, have plans to continue the franchise as long as Taro is alive.
Nier Automata, a sequel to the 2010 cult classic Nier, has sold over 7 million copies, exceeding Square Enix's projections.
Despite the success of Nier Automata, a sequel has not been fast-tracked due to Taro and Saito's involvement in other projects like Babylon's Fall and the Voice of Cards trilogy.
The first Nier game was re-released as Nier: Replicant ver.1.22474487139... in 2021, selling 1.5 million copies.
Taro and Saito are currently working on a separate project, which is expected to be revealed in 2024.
