Nicola Sturgeon Maintains Innocence as SNP Finance Investigation Continues

The former Scottish First Minister says she has no updates on the 18-month probe into alleged embezzlement of party funds.

Nicola Sturgeon stated she knows 'nothing more' about the ongoing police investigation into SNP finances, 18 months after her arrest and release without charge.
The probe, codenamed Operation Branchform, is investigating the alleged misuse of £600,000 in party donations intended for Scottish independence campaigning.
Sturgeon's husband, Peter Murrell, the former SNP chief executive, was charged in April 2024 with embezzlement, while ex-party treasurer Colin Beattie was arrested and released without charge.
Police Scotland submitted findings to prosecutors in August 2024 and are awaiting direction on further actions in the case.
Sturgeon, still serving as an MSP, has submitted nomination papers for the 2026 Holyrood election but has not made a final decision on running.
