‘Nickel Boys’ and ‘Sing Sing’ Dominate 2025 AAFCA Awards

The African American Film Critics Association honors top films and performances, with ‘Nickel Boys’ named Best Picture and ‘Sing Sing’ earning three major awards.

• The African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) awarded ‘Nickel Boys’ Best Picture and its director, RaMell Ross, Best Director at the 16th annual AAFCA Awards.
• A24’s ‘Sing Sing’ received three awards, including Best Actor for Colman Domingo, Best Supporting Actor for Clarence Maclin, and Best Screenplay for Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar.
• Netflix’s ‘The Piano Lesson’ won Best Ensemble and Best Supporting Actress for Danielle Deadwyler, while DreamWorks Animation’s ‘The Wild Robot’ earned Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score.
• Marianne Jean-Baptiste was named Best Actress for her role in ‘Hard Truths,’ and ‘Emilia Pérez’ won Best International Film.
• The winners will be celebrated at the AAFCA Awards ceremony on February 19, 2025, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
