Nicholas Rossi Found Guilty Again in Utah County Rape Trial

He remains in custody awaiting sentencing in the separate Salt Lake County case on Oct. 20.

Overview

  • A Utah County jury on Wednesday found Rossi, 38, guilty of first-degree rape for a 2008 assault in Orem.
  • Prosecutors said he blocked a 21-year-old woman from leaving his apartment after a brief relationship and a dispute over money.
  • The case was revived when Utah’s 2018 rape-kit testing initiative linked DNA from the victim’s exam to Rossi.
  • He was identified in Scotland, arrested at a Glasgow hospital in 2022, and extradited in 2023 after contesting his identity under the name Arthur Knight.
  • Utah County sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 4 with a supplemental presentence report ordered, and he was separately convicted in August in Salt Lake County while also facing charges in Rhode Island, Ohio, and Massachusetts.
