NIA Raids 21 Sites Across 5 States and J&K in ISIS-Linked Terror Conspiracy Probe

The case grew out of a Tamil Nadu arrest, with investigators tracing alleged ISIS links to handlers abroad.

Overview

  • Teams searched locations in Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir under case RC-01/2025/NIA/CHE.
  • Nine premises in J&K were targeted, with operations reported in Budgam, Kulgam, Pulwama, Pattan, Kangan and Baramulla.
  • Agents seized mobile phones, laptops and incriminating documents that will undergo forensic examination to map financing, recruitment and sleeper-cell support.
  • The probe followed the Chengalpattu arrest of Akhlathur alias Mohammed Akhlque Mujahid, whom the agency says engaged with proscribed groups via social media and maintained contacts in Pakistan and Syria.
  • No arrests were made during Monday’s action, though several people were detained for questioning, including a Mumbai man who was later released.
