NIA Files Fresh UAPA Case Against Pannun Over Rs 11 Crore Call to Stop PM’s Flag Hoisting

Investigators say the case stems from an August 10 video retrieved from SFJ’s X account.

Overview

  • The FIR, registered on August 19 on a Home Ministry directive, names Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and unknown others under BNS Section 61(2) and UAPA Sections 10 and 13.
  • NIA cites a video of Pannun addressing a Lahore Press Club event via link from Washington, where he allegedly urged Sikh soldiers to block the Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort.
  • The agency says Pannun unveiled a “Delhi Banayga Khalistan” referendum map incorporating Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi.
  • The complaint alleges SFJ formed a “Shaheed Jatha” to fight against India and accuses Pannun of attempting to disrupt sovereignty and spread disaffection among Sikhs.
  • This is the seventh NIA case against the US‑based designated ‘individual terrorist’, with investigators also tracking activities of SFJ associates reported arrested overseas.
