Overview
- A supplementary chargesheet names Abhijot Singh as a co-conspirator in the September 2024 Sector-10 Chandigarh grenade attack targeting a retired Punjab Police officer, filed before the special NIA court in Chandigarh.
- The NIA attributes the plot to Pakistan-based Harwinder Singh “Rinda” and US-based Harpreet Singh “Happy Passia,” alleging Passia handled recruitment, funding and supply of weapons; both were earlier charge-sheeted as absconders.
- The probe outlines Abhijot’s December 2023 travel to Armenia, recruitment by Shamsher Shera, a July 2024 reconnaissance, an attempted killing in August 2024, and the September 11, 2024 attack carried out by Rohan and Vishal Masih.
- In a separate case, the agency chargesheeted 11 accused over the April 6, 2025 RPG strike on Batala’s Qila Lal Singh police station, saying foreign-based BKI handlers claimed responsibility and used social media to radicalise Punjab youth, with 11 more suspects absconding.
- The NIA also filed a chargesheet against four in the April 2025 grenade attack at former minister Manoranjan Kalia’s Jalandhar residence, naming two in custody and two fugitives including Kulbir Singh Sidhu, as efforts continue to trace other conspirators.
