NIA Files Fresh Chargesheet Naming Four in Chhattisgarh Maoist Funding Case

Overview

  • The latest filing names Sunita Potam, Shankar Muchaki, Dashrath alias Dasru Modiyam, and absconding Mallesh Kunjam.
  • NIA alleges the accused collected, stored and disbursed CPI (Maoist) funds through MBM to organise protests and obstruct development projects.
  • Seven individuals have now been charge-sheeted and six are under arrest, with Mallesh still on the run.
  • The probe began in May 2023 after Rs 6 lakh was seized from MBM workers Gajendra Madvi and Laxman Kunjam, who were first charge-sheeted that November.
  • NIA took over in February 2024 and filed a first supplementary chargesheet in August 2025 that added Raghu Midiyami and fresh counts for Gajendra and Laxman.
