NIA Files First Supplementary Chargesheet in Bhopal HuT Case Naming Six Over Car Arson

Overview

• The National Investigation Agency submitted the supplementary chargesheet in case RC-15/2023/NIA/DLI before the NIA Special Court in Bhopal.
• With the latest filing, 18 individuals stand chargesheeted in the Hizb‑ut‑Tahrir conspiracy case; the original chargesheet named 17 on November 4, 2023.
• The NIA said six accused, including Mohsin Khan alias Dawood, were linked to the burning of a police officer’s car on instructions from a foreign handler.
• Mohsin Khan was freshly charged under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Penal Code, while additional UAPA and IPC sections were invoked against five others.
• The case began with a May 2023 ATS Bhopal FIR alleging clandestine recruitment, indoctrination through ‘Dars’ meetings, and combat‑style training, and the NIA says it continues to trace absconders, sympathisers and overseas handlers to dismantle HuT networks.
