Overview
- Sunny of Dharamshala and Shubham (Shubhal) Sandhal, alias Deep Hundi, of Delhi were named in the filing on charges of human trafficking and cheating after their July arrests.
- According to the NIA, Sunny operated from Mexico between 2021 and 2023 to facilitate illegal crossings and detain victims, then continued coordinating logistics and payments after returning to India.
- The agency describes Sandhal as a hawala operator who collected client payments in India and moved illicit funds across India, Mexico and the United States for the syndicate.
- Gagandeep Singh, known as Goldy and identified as the kingpin, was arrested in March, with the network accused of routing migrants to the United States via Spain, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico without authorization.
