NIA Detains Key Maoist Operative in Haryana as Northern Expansion Probe Intensifies

Electronic files from the arrest link Jharkhand-based funding to CPI (Maoist) recruitment networks across six northern states.

The NIA team seized a mobile phone with SIM card, one Tablet, two memory cards, and “incriminating” documents related to the CPI(Maoist) from the accused, it said.

  • Priyanshu Kashyap, originally from Bastar district in Chhattisgarh and based in Rohtak, was arrested on July 30 following intelligence from Haryana Police.
  • The NIA seized a mobile phone, SIM card, tablet, memory cards and documents described as ‘incriminating’ during the Rohtak operation.
  • Authorities allege Kashyap served as the area committee in-charge in Rohtak, overseeing underground and overground cadre mobilisation.
  • Earlier this month, the agency arrested Ajay Singhal (alias Aman) and Vishal Singh in linked operations targeting the CPI (Maoist) revival in the north.
  • Investigators say funds from the Eastern Regional Bureau in Jharkhand have underwritten front organisations and student wings across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
