Overview
- Priyanshu Kashyap, originally from Bastar district in Chhattisgarh and based in Rohtak, was arrested on July 30 following intelligence from Haryana Police.
- The NIA seized a mobile phone, SIM card, tablet, memory cards and documents described as ‘incriminating’ during the Rohtak operation.
- Authorities allege Kashyap served as the area committee in-charge in Rohtak, overseeing underground and overground cadre mobilisation.
- Earlier this month, the agency arrested Ajay Singhal (alias Aman) and Vishal Singh in linked operations targeting the CPI (Maoist) revival in the north.
- Investigators say funds from the Eastern Regional Bureau in Jharkhand have underwritten front organisations and student wings across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
