NIA Detains Dharmavaram Resident and Tadipatri Woman in Jaish-e-Mohammed Probe

Authorities have begun forensic analysis of seized devices in Chennai to map potential ties to Pakistan-based terror groups.

  • On August 16, NIA officers with Dharmavaram police arrested 42-year-old Kothwal Noor Mohammad for allegedly communicating with Jaish-e-Mohammed and other banned outfits.
  • A 35-year-old woman in Tadipatri was taken into custody after investigators flagged repeated suspicious exchanges with Noor Mohammad.
  • Investigators seized multiple SIM cards, the suspect’s mobile phone and radical literature and dispatched them for forensic examination.
  • Noor Mohammad was produced before a Kadiri court and remanded for 14 days under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act before transfer to Kadapa Central Prison.
  • Authorities are examining whether Noor Mohammad served as a recruiter for transnational networks and may involve additional central agencies as digital forensics unfold.
