  • An NIA special court in Srinagar officially declared Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen chief Mohammad Yousuf Shah, alias Syed Salahuddin, a proclaimed offender under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act on July 25.
  • The declaration follows a Zakura police challan accusing him of offences under Sections 13 and 18 of the UAPA and Section 505 of the Ranbir Penal Code related to militancy planning in Kashmir.
  • The court has set August 30 as the deadline for his surrender and warned of property attachment proceedings under Criminal Procedure Code Sections 82 and 83 if he fails to appear.
  • Despite a standing arrest warrant, law enforcement reports that Salahuddin remains at large and is believed to be deliberately evading capture.
