NIA Confirms Only Three LeT Operatives Carried Out Pahalgam Massacre

Investigators say the trio selected the site to exploit a slower security response.

  • The April 22 attack at Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam left 26 people dead, according to the NIA.
  • The agency says only three Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives executed the assault after conducting reconnaissance of the area.
  • All three were killed on July 28 in Operation Mahadev near Srinagar, with eyewitness, forensic and ballistic evidence linking them to the massacre.
  • Two local men, Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad Jothar, were arrested for providing food and shelter for Rs 3,000, and chargesheets are being prepared.
  • The NIA continues to probe the broader conspiracy and support network, clarifying earlier reports that had suggested additional attackers.
