NIA Chargesheets Three MBM Office-Bearers in Chhattisgarh Maoist Funding Case

Investigators say the banned outfit funneled cash to mobilise protests against new security camps.

  • The chargesheet names Gajendra Madvi, Laxman Kunjam and Raghu Midiyami, described as office-bearers of the outlawed Moolwasi Bachao Manch.
  • The case began after Bijapur Police recovered ₹6 lakh from Madvi and Kunjam in March 2023, which the NIA says was bound for multiple bank deposits on CPI (Maoist) instructions.
  • Investigators identify Midiyami, MBM’s Bastar division president, as the nodal hand for collecting, storing and distributing funds at the local level.
  • The outfit was banned by Chhattisgarh on October 30, 2024 under the Special Public Security Act, and all three accused are in custody.
  • The probe, taken over by the NIA in February 2024, continues to map additional collaborators and financial conduits tied to CPI (Maoist).
