Overview

• The National Investigation Agency filed a supplementary chargesheet on Saturday before the NIA Special Court in Ernakulam naming Shamnad EK as the main assailant.
• Shamnad has been booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
• The accused was arrested in April after a three-year hunt and had carried a Rs 7 lakh reward while on the run.
• NIA investigations allege he was a PFI Service Wing member who underwent arms and physical training at centres in Malappuram district, including Randathani, Manjeri and Achipilakkal.
• He is the 65th person chargesheeted in the case, and the agency says it has identified 71 accused and continues to pursue remaining absconders.
