NIA Attaches Home and Orchard of Accused Hizbul Mujahideen Associate in Shopian After Court Order

The court-ordered step targets the arms-supply logistics that investigators link to the banned outfit in the Kashmir Valley.

Overview

  • The National Investigation Agency said on September 26 it executed an attachment of immovable assets linked to accused Tariq Ahmad Mir in Maldera village, Shopian.
  • The properties comprise a single-storey residence built on 780 square feet under Survey No. 82 Min and an eight-marla orchard under Survey No. 74 Min.
  • Mir, identified as an associate of Hizbul Mujahideen operative Syed Naveed Mushtaq, was charge-sheeted in October 2024 under the IPC, the Arms Act and the UAPA and was arrested in April 2025.
  • The agency described the action as part of an ongoing effort to disrupt terrorist networks operating in Kashmir by choking funding and logistics.
  • Security forces have stepped up counterterror operations in Jammu and Kashmir, with the Army and BSF focused on blocking infiltration and the flow of arms, ammunition and cash.
