NIA Arrests Three More in Nalagarh IED Blast

The agency re-registered the case under BNS, the Explosive Substances Act and UAPA to probe an alleged interstate conspiracy and identify further suspects.

Overview

  • A high‑intensity IED exploded near an investigating officer’s room at Nalagarh police station on January 1, 2026, at about 9:40 a.m., prompting the original FIR at Police Station Nalagarh.
  • The NIA took over and re‑registered the investigation as RC-27/2026/NIA/DLI on May 8, 2026, invoking the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act to give the probe central counter‑terror powers.
  • The three most recent arrests are Arshdeep Singh (alias Arsh Kandola), Karanpartap and Diljot Saini, all residents of Rahon in SBS Nagar, Punjab, who were already in custody in a Garhshankar FIR before being taken into NIA custody.
  • Earlier NIA arrests in the case named Mahavir Kumar (alias Kaka), Ajay Mehra and Manpreet Singh (alias Mani), who were produced before the Special NIA Court in Shimla with two remanded to police custody and one sent to judicial custody.
  • The NIA says the six arrests form part of an active effort to map roles, linkages and networks across states so forensic, communication and financial probes are likely to follow and could lead to further charges or arrests.
