Overview

• Manjoor Khan, also known as Babu Bhai, was taken into custody in the investigation of an AK-47 rifle and ammunition seizure linked to an alleged arms-smuggling network.
• NIA officials allege Khan conspired to move prohibited-bore weapons, including AK-47s, from Nagaland into Bihar and was a close aide of prime accused Vikash Kumar.
• The agency says evidence indicates the trafficking aimed to create unrest and threaten public safety, raising national-security concerns.
• The case began in July 2024 when Fakuli police recovered an AK-47 fitted with a lens and live rounds at Muzaffarpur’s Murghatiya Bridge, leading to four arrests: Vikash Kumar, Satyam Kumar, Devmani Rai and Ahmad Ansari.
• NIA took over in August 2024 (RC-11/2024/NIA/DLI) and filed supplementary charges under IPC Section 120B and UAPA Sections 13 and 18, and it states the investigation continues to pursue additional conspirators, potential financiers and end-users.
