Overview
- Arif Hussain, also known as Abu Talib, was detained at IGI Airport in Delhi on August 28 as he allegedly attempted to flee the country, according to the NIA.
- Investigators say he had been in contact with earlier-arrested suspects Siraj-ur-Rahman and Syed Sameer in the Vizianagaram terror conspiracy case.
- Siraj-ur-Rahman and Syed Sameer were found with chemicals used to make IEDs and were allegedly plotting attacks using improvised tiffin-box explosives under instructions from ISIS handlers in Saudi Arabia.
- NIA investigations indicate Hussain was involved in the illegal supply of weapons in multiple parts of India for alleged jihadi activities.
- The NIA has taken over the probe and is working to identify and apprehend remaining members of the suspected module.
