NHSRCL Awards L&T 157-Km Maharashtra Track for MumbaiAhmedabad Bullet Train

The award finalizes major track contracting, with JARTS training to precede Maharashtra track laying.

Overview

  • Larsen & Toubro will design, supply, construct, test, and commission double-line high-speed track from the Mumbai terminal to Zaroli, covering four stations and the Thane rolling stock depot.
  • The Maharashtra package completes the set of principal track contracts, all awarded to Indian firms, according to NHSRCL.
  • The corridor will use Shinkansen-style ballastless slab track with RC beds, cement asphalt mortar, precast slabs, and rail fasteners.
  • NHSRCL says 436 engineers have been certified in Gujarat under a JARTS program, with equivalent training slated in Maharashtra before track laying begins.
  • Project progress as of September 8 includes over 320 km of viaduct, 397 km of pier works, 408 km of foundations, 202 track km of track bed, about 1,800 OHE masts over 44 km, completed river and steel bridges, and active tunnelling and station works in Maharashtra.
