Overview

  • Brooke Bowen landed headfirst into a gym foam pit on April 22 and was discharged from Pinderfields Hospital after an X-ray showed no fractures.
  • A private scan on June 20 revealed stable breaks in her C3 and C4 vertebrae along with bruising compressing C5 and C6.
  • She was readmitted for ten days in late June after developing pins-and-needles and cramping that emergency doctors initially dismissed as non-organic.
  • A consultant warned Bowen that, despite her fractures being deemed stable, she could face complete paralysis in her legs if complications arise.
  • Dr Mark Freeman of Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust issued a formal apology and invited Bowen to meet with trust officials to review her care.
