NHS Opens National Booking for Winter Flu and Covid Jabs From Oct. 1

Officials say early booking helps protect those most at risk.

Overview

  • Eligibility is staged, with children and pregnant women able to get flu vaccines from Sept. 1 and wider adult groups, including over‑65s and clinical risk groups, from Oct. 1.
  • Appointments can be booked via the NHS website, the NHS App or by calling 119, with vaccinations delivered through GP surgeries, community pharmacies, schools and care homes.
  • For adults eligible for both vaccines, the NHS will offer flu and Covid-19 jabs in a single visit where possible.
  • Covid-19 booster appointments run until Jan. 30, 2026 and flu jabs are available until the end of March 2026.
  • Officials cite last winter’s strain on services, noting more than 300,000 flu-related hospital bed days and an estimated 100,000 hospitalisations averted by vaccination, while the RSV programme continues for pregnant people from 28 weeks and older adults via GP and selected pharmacies.
