Overview
- From October 1, COVID-19 jabs are offered to people aged 75 and over, residents in older adult care homes, and immunosuppressed individuals aged six months and above.
- Wider adult flu eligibility starts October 1 for those 65 and over, adults 18–64 in clinical risk groups, frontline health and social care workers, carers and household contacts of immunocompromised people, and residents in long-stay care.
- Flu vaccinations for children and pregnant women began in early September, with most school-age children receiving a nasal spray through school sessions.
- Appointments are being arranged primarily via GP invitations, with some slots available at community pharmacies and through the National Booking System online, by calling 119, or via the NHS App.
- Local leaders in both areas are urging eligible people to book promptly, with some able to receive flu and COVID-19 vaccines at the same appointment depending on eligibility and supply.
