NHS Booking Opens for Flu and COVID-19 Vaccines for All Eligible People

Health leaders urge quick booking due to rising cases.

Overview

  • Eligible people can now arrange flu jabs and targeted COVID-19 boosters through the NHS App, their GP, online or by calling 119.
  • COVID-19 boosters are being offered to people aged 75 and over, residents of older-adult care homes, and those aged six months to 74 with weakened immune systems.
  • Flu vaccine eligibility widened on October 1 to include over-65s, 18–65s with long-term conditions, care home residents, carers, household contacts of immunocompromised people and frontline health and social care workers.
  • The NHS has sent more than 12 million email invitations, with further messages to follow, and eligible people do not need to wait for an invitation to book.
  • Vaccinations are available at GP surgeries, selected pharmacies, maternity services and care homes, flu can usually be given alongside COVID-19 or shingles vaccines, and high-street pharmacies are now offering flu jabs for two- and three-year-olds.
