NCW Summons Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt Over KD Song Row as Hindi Video Is Pulled From YouTube

India’s women’s commission moved to question the team after complaints alleged sexually explicit content in the track’s lyrics and presentation.

Overview

  • Taking suo motu cognisance, the National Commission for Women summoned Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt, lyricist Raqeeb Alam, producer Venkat K Narayana and Kiran Kumar to appear on March 24 over alleged obscenity in Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke.
  • CBFC chair Prasoon Joshi said the board received no application to certify the song and stressed that content released directly online does not fall under CBFC certification.
  • Nora Fatehi posted a video distancing herself from the disputed Hindi version, saying she shot a Kannada version years ago, did not endorse the Hindi lyrics and welcomed the takedown.
  • The Hindi lyrical video was made private on YouTube after widespread criticism, while complaints reached the Delhi Police Cyber Cell and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, and an NHRC member publicly condemned the track.
  • Credited lyricist Raqeeb Alam said director Prem wrote the original Kannada lines, that he was later asked for a literal Hindi translation, and that the makers have requested a revised ‘clean’ version and plan an apology, as reported.
