• NHPC met representatives of the Adi Baane Kebang and the Siang Indigenous Farmers’ Forum at its Pasighat office on Saturday to discuss the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project.
• Officials reiterated that the project has been declared a national project and is pitched to provide flood moderation, water security and clean hydropower for the Siang basin.
• The utility asked community leaders to support preparation of the pre‑feasibility report and to help build awareness at the grassroots.
• NHPC said the DPR and related EIA, SIA, EMP and R&R plans will include stakeholder consultations at every stage.
• ABK and SIFF leaders raised queries on components, environmental impact and rehabilitation, and proposed further meetings with project‑affected families and a joint session with the state government.
