Matthews led the NHL with 69 goals, while MacKinnon and Kucherov excelled with 140 and 144 points respectively.
Kucherov, a previous winner, could become the first Tampa Bay Lightning player to win the Ted Lindsay Award twice.
The award, unique for its voting by fellow NHL players, emphasizes peer recognition over media or public votes.
The winners will be announced at the NHL Awards ceremony on June 27 at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas.
