Overview

  • The NHL published its full 2025–26 regular-season schedule on July 16, marking the last campaign under the existing collective bargaining agreement.
  • League’s 32 teams will combine for 1,312 games from Oct. 7, 2025 through April 16, 2026 before expanding to 84 games and 1,344 total contests in 2026–27.
  • The season opens Oct. 7 with an ESPN tripleheader that features the Florida Panthers raising their Stanley Cup banner against the Chicago Blackhawks followed by two marquee matchups.
  • All 32 teams will participate in an Oct. 28 ‘Frozen Frenzy’ with staggered start times that allow continuous coverage of every game.
  • Play will pause Feb. 6–24 for NHL players to compete in ice hockey at the Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics for the first time since 2014.
