  • The NHL will conduct its 2025 draft lottery on May 5 at the NHL Network's studio in Secaucus, New Jersey, broadcast live on ESPN.
  • The lottery will determine the order of the first 16 picks, with only the bottom 11 teams eligible for the No. 1 overall selection due to a 10-spot advancement cap.
  • The San Jose Sharks, last year’s top-pick winners, hold a 25.5% chance of securing the No. 1 pick again, the highest odds among non-playoff teams.
  • Top-ranked prospects for the draft include defenseman Matthew Schaefer, noted for his speed and skill, and center Michael Misa, both highly rated by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.
  • The first round of the NHL Draft will take place on June 27 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, followed by rounds two through seven on June 28.
